TONI ANDREWS AND SHOCKING CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES IN HULL

A 23-year-old woman from Hull has been sentenced to prison after a series of disturbing crimes involving child exploitation and indecent imagery, uncovered through a detailed investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA).

The woman, identified as Toni Andrews, was found to have taken explicit photographs of a child and subsequently sent these images to her boyfriend.

Her involvement in the distribution and possession of illegal material was revealed during the course of the NCA’s inquiry.

In addition to the images she sent, Andrews was discovered to possess a vast collection of over 800 illegal images and videos, many of which depicted child sexual abuse.

These materials were categorized into various levels of severity, including hundreds of images showing child exploitation and extreme pornography.

The investigation into Andrews’ activities was triggered by the conviction of her then-boyfriend, Thomas Edeson, aged 24, who resided on Franklin Street in Hull.

Edeson was sentenced to two years in prison in August 2021 after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl and creating indecent images of her.

The NCA’s probe into Edeson’s electronic devices began in May 2021, following a referral from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

This referral was made after Google notified authorities of Edeson’s attempt to upload child sexual abuse images online.

Upon examining Edeson’s devices, investigators uncovered sexual images of a child that appeared to have been taken by Andrews and then shared with Edeson.

This evidence linked Andrews directly to the abuse and distribution of illegal material.

Andrews was subsequently arrested in December 2021 in connection with these findings.

During police interviews, Andrews admitted to taking and sending one of the photographs to Edeson.

However, she denied any knowledge of his sexual interest in children.

Further examination of her electronic devices, which were seized from her home at the time of her arrest, revealed a disturbing collection of images.

These included nearly 100 indecent images of children across categories A to C, over 500 prohibited images of children, and more than 200 images depicting extreme pornography.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Edeson was brought from prison for questioning.

He confirmed that Andrews had supplied him with sexual images of a child, as well as children’s underwear, which authorities recovered from his residence during his arrest.

On November 22, at Hull Crown Court, a judge sentenced Andrews to 16 months in prison.

Additionally, she was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for a period of 10 years.

Andrews had previously pleaded guilty to seven charges, including taking indecent photographs of a child, possessing indecent images of children, and possessing extreme pornography, during an earlier court hearing.

This case highlights the serious nature of child exploitation crimes and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat such offenses, especially in localities like Hull where these disturbing activities have been uncovered and prosecuted.
