TOMAS EVISON BANNED IN SHEFFIELD FOR FIGHTING DOGS AND BREEDING ILLEGAL BREEDS

Tomas Evison, also known by the nickname 'Evo', has been convicted of serious offences related to the illegal breeding and possession of fighting dogs in Sheffield. Born on January 24, 1989, Evison’s most recent known residence was on Woolley Wood Road, Sheffield S5 0UF. His criminal activities involved the breeding, selling, and possession of dogs specifically bred for fighting, which are prohibited under UK law.

In a significant police operation in July 2016, officers from South Yorkshire Police executed a warrant at Evison’s address. During the raid, they discovered a male and a female pit bull terrier, both of which are classified as banned breeds under the Dangerous Dogs Act. At the time of seizure, the female pit bull was found to be pregnant, although Evison disclaimed any knowledge or ownership of the upcoming litter. The authorities took swift action, and an order was issued for the destruction of the dogs involved.

The police, represented by Temporary Sergeant Matt Duffy from the Status Dogs team, emphasized the dangers associated with Evison’s activities. He stated, “Evison’s activities potentially put the lives of his family, friends, and the wider community at risk by breeding and selling banned breeds. His actions could have led to the suffering of other dogs and animals, as well as the potential to cause significant distress to dog owners if their dogs have to be taken from them.”

Sergeant Duffy further highlighted the police’s commitment to community safety, noting, “We are committed to protecting our communities and will always investigate reports relating to the ownership, breeding, and/or selling of banned breeds.”

Following his conviction, Evison was sentenced to 80 hours of unpaid work, 25 days of supervision, and was fined £145. Additionally, he received a five-year ban from owning, keeping, or participating in the keeping or selling of dogs, a restriction that expired in March 2022. The case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat illegal dog fighting and the breeding of dangerous breeds in Sheffield and beyond.
