Nottingham man jailed for upskirting schoolgirls in the streets

NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR UPSKIRTING SCHOOLGIRLS IN THE STREETS

A man who showed predatory behavior towards young schoolgirls in Nottingham has been sentenced to two and a half years of imprisonment.

Tiyumtamba Harruna, aged 32 and a father of two, from Campbell Close in Nottingham, admitted to seven offences, notably including two counts of attempting to take indecent photographs of a child.

The court heard that Harruna habitually sought out young girls while driving his car and followed them on foot through alleyways, engaging in invasive acts such as taking intimate images with the intent of sexual gratification.

The judge commented that Harruna "effectively stalked young girls around the streets of Nottingham" and highlighted his deliberate targeting of innocent victims who were simply going about their daily routines.

Detailed accounts from victims described incidents where Harruna crouched close to girls and inappropriately touched or attempted to photograph them, with some incidents caught on CCTV.

Harruna’s behavior caused significant distress; one girl said she now "does not feel comfortable walking home from school anymore," emphasizing the lasting impact of his actions.

During sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court, the judge, Michael Auty KC, condemned Harruna’s actions as a severe nuisance and a breach of trust, noting that his motivation was solely for his sexual pleasure.

Harruna was also issued a sexual harm prevention order and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

The court acknowledged his remorse and explained that his struggles with alcohol and personal issues contributed to his misconduct, but ultimately stressed that such offenses are "far too serious" for a suspended sentence, given that he had stalked and preyed on young girls for approximately two years, causing widespread upset and psychological harm.
