TIMOTHY WILDMORE FROM REDCAR SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE IN TEESSIDE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Redcar, Timothy Wildmore, a 45-year-old man, was found guilty of possessing and viewing child sexual abuse images. The court proceedings revealed the extent of his actions and the severe consequences he now faces.Wildmore’s life has been profoundly affected by his criminal behavior. According to his legal representative, Richard Herrmann, he has suffered the loss of his wife, family, employment, and social circle. Currently residing alone in a rented flat in Redcar, Wildmore survives on a meager weekly income of just £45. Herrmann emphasized the depth of his despair, stating, “He has also lost really any hope for the future. One friend who had stuck by him died suddenly this week.”
The case came to light after Cleveland Police launched an investigation into a UK-based website that was compromised by hackers. On March 6, 2010, authorities discovered that this site contained a staggering 2,393 images of child pornography, which were accessible to the public. Wildmore was identified as a user of this website, leading to his arrest. On March 15 of the same year, police executed a search warrant at his residence in Redcar, seizing his laptop for examination.
Police experts recovered a small number of deleted images of child pornography from Wildmore’s computer. These included five images classified at Level Four, which is just below the most severe Level Five. Prosecutor Sharon Elves explained that initially, Wildmore claimed he only watched and downloaded adult pornography and denied any interest in child abuse images. However, when shown the recovered images, he admitted their presence on his device but claimed ignorance about how they got there.
During the court hearing, Mr. Herrmann argued that the appropriate course of action was to provide Wildmore with support through the Probation Service, emphasizing the importance of rehabilitation. Judge Tony Briggs addressed Wildmore directly, condemning the act of downloading such images. The judge stated, “Those that download pictures that involve child pornography add to the market that fuels the taking of such pictures and adds to the degradation of children who are photographed. They are awful cases and unhappily there are a number of them.”
Considering Wildmore’s previous good character and his early guilty plea, the judge decided to suspend his sentence. Wildmore was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for two years, and was placed under supervision. Additionally, he was ordered to participate in a Sex Offender’s Treatment Programme and to register as a sex offender for seven years. To prevent further offenses, he was also issued a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which prohibits him from accessing the internet or owning a computer unless it is available for police inspection, for the same period.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child abuse images, and highlights the serious legal and social repercussions faced by those involved in such crimes.
