SIMON GIDNEY SENTENCED IN REDCAR FOR VIOLENT SEXUAL ASSAULT

Simon Gidney, a 48-year-old resident of Redcar, has been handed a four-year prison sentence following his conviction for a brutal sexual assault.

The incident took place in Redcar, where Gidney consumed alcohol and cocaine prior to the assault, which significantly impaired his judgment and behavior.

During the court proceedings at Teesside Crown Court, it was revealed that Gidney sexually attacked a victim whose identity remains protected by legal restrictions.

The court heard that the assault was particularly violent, with the victim fighting back with remarkable resilience.

In her desperate attempt to escape, she scratched Gidney's face, a testament to her fierce resistance against the attack.

The emotional toll on the victim has been severe.

She publicly expressed her distress, stating, 'I am not myself anymore.

I just want to be back to how I was.

It's changed the way I feel about men.' Her words underscored the profound trauma she endured and highlighted the importance of her voice in bringing attention to her ordeal.

Judge Stephen Ashurst described the incident as a 'very ugly and violent' attack, emphasizing the severity of the crime.

Gidney, who had no previous relevant convictions, admitted guilt to the charges, claiming that his actions were out of character.

Despite his plea, the court sentenced him to four years in prison.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Gidney was subjected to a five-year restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting the victim or approaching her.
