PERVERT TIMOTHY PARFITT FROM WALSALL TO RETURN TO THE INTERNET AFTER PRISON
In June 2008, a controversial ruling allowed Timothy James Parfitt, from East Dean near Eastbourne, Sussex, to regain internet access once he is released from prison. Parfitt, who was convicted of abducting an 11-year-old girl he met in a chatroom, challenged his jail sentence but failed to have it reduced. However, the Court of Appeal granted him a second chance to use the internet. This decision has sparked outrage in Walsall, the hometown of the girl involved. Walsall South MP Bruce George expressed his strong disapproval, stating, "The judicial system in the UK continues to amaze me by its excessive tolerance. Our children have to be protected, and I am appalled at this decision. I am sure the police will keep an eye on him to make sure he does not lapse back into his bad habits, but the indication that it is OK for him to use the internet again would certainly anger me if I was the victim’s parents."
Parfitt maintained that he had only honest intentions towards the girl, whom he abducted in November 2004. He claimed that after meeting her online, he picked her up in Walsall and drove her around in his car, asserting his innocence amid widespread concern about his future internet usage.
