TIMOTHY MORRIS OF CAMBRIDGE JAILED FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENSES IN PETERBOROUGH
Timothy Morris, a 27-year-old resident of Cambridge, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The convictions were handed down by Peterborough Crown Court on March 11.
The court heard that Morris attacked a woman at his home on Coleridge Road in the early hours of January 5, 2018.
Despite the victim repeatedly telling him no, Morris proceeded to rape her in his bedroom.
Although a thorough investigation was conducted, the suspect's identity was initially unclear.
Three years later, on February 23, 2021, Morris encountered a woman he had previously communicated with on a dating site.
The two went for a walk in Ditton Meadows, Cambridge, where Morris then sexually assaulted her.
Cambridgeshire Police arrested him following this incident.
DNA evidence collected from Morris matched the DNA recovered from his 2018 attack.
Morris denied all the charges.
However, the jury found him guilty of three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
He was sentenced to 11 years and two months in prison.
Additionally, he was given an indefinite restraining order to protect his victims, along with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
DC Chemu Evans commented on the case: "I would like to commend the survivors in this case for supporting what has been a long and hard investigation.
Morris was a predator who saw opportunities in vulnerable women.
Despite being told no, he continued, and this reflects his male sexual entitlement.
Throughout the investigation and court proceedings, he has shown little remorse for his actions or the heinous crimes he committed." He added, "This case highlights the importance of forensic evidence and demonstrates the effectiveness of our Sexual Assault Referral Centre in bringing offenders to justice."
