HISTORICAL CHILD SEX OFFENDER THOMAS WILLIAM DALY, 60, JAILED FOR SERIOUS SEXUAL ABUSE OFFENCES
Thomas William Daly, 60, has been sentenced to a total of 10 years’ imprisonment after admitting a series of historical sexual offences committed against children under the age of 16.The case was heard at Antrim Crown Court, where Daly pleaded guilty to multiple serious offences, including: * Two counts of rape (under common law prior to 28 July 2003).
* Indecent assault on a female.
* Gross indecency with or towards a child.
The offences related to historical abuse involving children under the age of 16.
Daly received concurrent custodial sentences for the individual offences, including six years’ imprisonment for each rape conviction and 18 months’ imprisonment for the remaining offences.
The court imposed a total sentence of 10 years, with five years to be served in custody followed by five years on licence.
In addition to his prison sentence, Daly was made subject to the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
Following his release, he must notify police of his address and any changes to his personal details for the rest of his life.
He is also prohibited from working with children or vulnerable people for 10 years after his release from prison.
Police welcomed the conviction, praising the courage shown by the victims in reporting the historical abuse.
Investigators said they hope the outcome encourages other survivors of sexual offences to come forward.
The identities of victims and other private individuals have been withheld to protect their privacy.
