THOMAS HADLEY FROM PETERSFIELD DEPORTED FROM THAILAND TO THE UK

In a significant development in international efforts to combat child exploitation, Thomas Hadley, a convicted paedophile from Petersfield, has been deported from Thailand and returned to the United Kingdom.

Hadley's arrest took place in the popular holiday destination of Pattaya, located south of Bangkok, where he was detained by Thai police authorities. The arrest was carried out in conjunction with the Pattaya Immigration Office, following a warrant issued by the UK’s Child Exploitation and Protection Agency, which actively monitors and tracks individuals considered to pose a risk to children both domestically and internationally.

Alongside Hadley, another British national, Peter Brian Neilson, aged 66 and originally from Sheffield, was also detained. Neilson and Hadley were both apprehended in Pattaya, a city well-known for its vibrant tourism scene, but also for its association with various criminal activities, including those involving child exploitation.

The UK’s Child Exploitation and Protection Agency issued a statement confirming their collaboration with Thai authorities. A spokeswoman explained, “We have an overseas tracker team which works to trace individuals who are considered to pose a risk to children in the UK and abroad. We have been working with the Thai authorities to locate these men, and they were detained in Pattaya by immigration officials and then deported back to the UK.”

It was revealed that both Hadley and Neilson had previously served jail sentences for offenses related to child abuse. However, their crimes were committed before the enactment of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. As a result, they were not required to register as sex offenders, which would have allowed authorities to monitor their whereabouts more closely. The deportation marks a significant step in international cooperation to ensure that individuals with a history of child abuse are held accountable and kept away from vulnerable populations.
