CARDIFF MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT ASSAULT AND SEXUAL OFFENCES IN HOTEL

Thomas Godfrey was involved in a serious incident of assault and sexual misconduct at a hotel in Cardiff.

The court heard that he delivered a violent blow to one woman’s face, repeatedly punching her between 15 and 20 times, leaving her feeling distressed and vulnerable.

Additionally, he entered another woman’s hotel room without permission, got into her bed, stroked her thigh, and engaged in a sexual act despite her protests.

The second victim was in bed after consuming takeaway food when Godfrey entered her room; she told him to stop, but he ignored her wishes and continued, even masturbating nearby after she clearly expressed her desire to sleep.

Evidence from CCTV footage and hotel staff confirmed his aggressive conduct, including an attempt to trap another woman in the hallway.

Court documents showed that Godfrey, who has no permanent address, has committed 11 offenses over the past nine months, including assaulting an emergency worker and harassment.

The judge described his assault as 'nasty,' noting the victim suffered bruising and was deeply upset.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm.

He was sentenced to six months in prison, given a five-year restraining order, and ordered to register as a sex offender for seven years.

His lawyer said that his violent behavior is related to longstanding alcoholism, which he has battled since his teen years, and that he feels remorseful, with hopes for a better future after serving his sentence.
