THOMAS FLETCHER FROM PLYMOUTH FACES JAIL FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN PLYMOUTH
In July 2021, a disturbing case emerged from Plymouth involving Thomas Fletcher, a 20-year-old resident of Bayswater Road, Stonehouse.Fletcher is now facing serious allegations and potential imprisonment after admitting to multiple child sex offences that have shocked the local community and prompted a police investigation.
Fletcher appeared at Plymouth Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to a series of disturbing charges.
These included four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, one count of sexual communication with a child, and another of inciting a child to watch a sexual act.
His admission of guilt on these charges means that he will not face a trial for these specific offences, as prosecutors have accepted his pleas.
Despite his guilty pleas on these charges, Fletcher has maintained his innocence regarding other allegations, specifically denying accusations of rape of an adult, one count of sexual activity with a child, and one of child sexual communication.
The prosecution has chosen not to pursue these additional charges, citing a lack of reasonable prospects for conviction on the most serious offence of rape.
Judge William Mousley ordered that a probation report be prepared before the sentencing hearing, which is scheduled for September 2.
The court's decision to delay sentencing underscores the seriousness of the case and the need for a comprehensive assessment of Fletcher’s background and risk factors.
Fletcher’s history in Plymouth includes a previous incident in October 2019, where he was branded a “dangerous prat” by a judge at the same court.
At that time, he admitted to dangerously driving a moped past McDonald's and around the pedestrianised area of the city centre.
He did a circuit around the sundial at speeds of up to 30mph while pedestrians were still present, despite being banned from driving at the time.
Following that incident, Fletcher was sentenced to a 12-month community order, which included 240 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete 20 days of the Rehabilitation Activity Requirement under the supervision of probation services.
This previous conviction highlights a pattern of reckless and dangerous behavior, raising concerns about his potential risk to the community.
As the case progresses, the community and authorities await the outcome of the upcoming sentencing, which will determine Fletcher’s future and the extent of justice served for the victims involved in these disturbing offences.
