ASHFORD MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AFTER ADMITTING CRIME TO FRIEND OVER TEXT
A man named Theodore Weatherill has been sentenced after admitting to the crime of rape.The incident occurred in December 2019 at his home in Ashford where he attacked a woman after she fell asleep.
The victim woke to find Weatherill lying on top of her and later asked him whether they had sex; he denied it.
Subsequently, Weatherill sent a message to a friend admitting to the rape.
The 23-year-old, formerly of Tennyson Road, was arrested on December 31 and later changed his plea to guilty when he appeared at Canterbury Crown Court on May 12.
On July 2, he was sentenced to seven years in prison.
PC Alan Atherton-Jackman of Kent Police praised the victim's bravery, emphasizing that she is a survivor and encouraged others to report sexual offences.
Weatherill’s actions have resulted in a significant prison sentence, and he has been formally convicted and jailed for the crime.
