TERRY GIBBONS FROM BARNSLEY SENTENCED TO 26 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN ROTHERHAM

In a case that has shocked the local community, Terry Gibbons, a 44-year-old man from Kingsway, Thurnscoe, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 26 years for a series of heinous child sex offences committed against two young girls in the Rotherham area. The sentencing took place at Sheffield Crown Court, where Gibbons pleaded guilty to a total of 26 charges, including rape and engaging in sexual activities with minors, covering a disturbing six-year period from 2007 to 2014.

The investigation, led by Detective Constable Jo Chambers, revealed that Gibbons employed manipulative tactics such as grooming, coercion, threats, and persistent sexual assault to abuse the victims, both of whom were under the age of 16 at the time. Despite his guilty plea, Gibbons remains in denial about the severity and depravity of his crimes, a stance that has been described as indicative of his dangerous nature.

Det Con Chambers expressed her relief that Gibbons is now behind bars, emphasizing the threat he posed to the community.
