SWINDON MAN GETS COMMUNITY ORDER FOR STALKING AND HARASSMENT
A Swindon man named Terry Blastock, aged 49, has been convicted and sentenced for harassment without violence. He appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, July 8, after previously pleading guilty to the charge.
The court was informed that Blastock had repeatedly bombarded his victim with unwanted text messages, letters, gifts, and visits to her home during the period from August 1 to November 1, 2024.
Ms Winters, the prosecutor, explained that Blastock was initially arrested on suspicion of harassment in July 2024 and was given a warning, but continued his intimidating behavior in the subsequent months.
The victim's emotional statement revealed that Blastock's actions caused her considerable anxiety and fear, describing how his unsolicited visits felt invasive and how his refusal to return house keys led her to change the locks.
She also reported that Blastock's persistent messaging from different numbers was a 'nightmare' and that she felt frightened by his loud knocks and unwanted gifts at her door.
The victim expressed that the gifts, flowers, cards, and letters were overwhelming and still frighten her.
In court, Blastock, who represented himself, stated he had no desire to communicate with the victim again and was willing to cooperate with the probation service.
The judge sentenced him to a 12-month community order requiring him to complete 20 rehabilitation activity sessions, and imposed a one-year restraining order preventing him from contacting or approaching the victim or her address.
Blastock was also fined £293 and warned that failure to comply could result in prison.
He was ordered to stay away from the victim's residence and was explicitly forbidden from contacting her directly or indirectly during the order's duration.
