ROCHESTER MAN SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC ASSAULT AND RAPE

A man identified as Teodor-Alin Pirvu, aged 37, has been sentenced to 19 and a half years in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious crimes including rape, sexual assault, threats to kill, intentional strangulation, and assault causing actual bodily harm. The incident occurred in Rochester where Pirvu lured a woman to his home during a heavy rain on April 10, 2023. Once inside, his behavior changed drastically; he demanded sex, assaulted her physically by punching and kicking, and strangled her with a scarf. He also threatened to kill her by holding knives to her throat. The victim managed to escape the following day, after which she was found with injuries such as bruises and swelling, as well as hearing loss. She had bitten Pirvu on the cheek during the assault, an injury that was visible when police arrested him on April 13. An investigation recovered the scarf and knives used by Pirvu at his residence. Despite denying the charges, Pirvu was convicted following a jury trial at Maidstone Crown Court. The case highlights a brutal assault where Pirvu inflicted severe injuries and threats on his victim, leading to his significant prison sentence.
