Wanted Child rapist Tariq Javed, 40, of Aspinall Street, Rusholme, fled from Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court on February 29, 2016, moments before he was found guilty. He had paid £10,000 to be released on bail until sentencing. Airports and ports were put on high alert after Javed absconded from court while the jury were deliberating the case. Javed was found guilty in his absence of seven counts of sexual activity with a child under the age of 13. He is known to have links with the Stockport and Manchester areas. GMP believe Javed might try to flee the UK. In 2014 GMP first issued a public alert to catch Javed over sex offences, saying he ‘poses a risk to the public’. He was later arrested and prosecuted in 2016, before disappearing.
