TARIQ JUNEIDI FROM EXMOUTH ESCAPES PRISON AFTER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES
In a recent case heard in Exmouth, Tariq Juneidi, aged 44, faced serious allegations related to the possession of indecent images of children. The incidents in question occurred between March 29, 2020, and April 27, 2020, within the town of Exmouth. During this period, Juneidi was found to have created and possessed a total of twelve indecent photographs depicting minors, categorized into different levels of severity under the law.Specifically, the evidence showed that he had made three Category C images, five Category B images, and four Category A images of a child. These images are classified based on the nature and severity of the content, with Category A being the most serious. The case was brought to court, and Juneidi pleaded guilty to the charges.
In a decision that drew attention, the court sentenced him to 12 months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for 24 months. This means that Juneidi will not serve time immediately, provided he complies with certain conditions set by the court. As part of his sentence, he was also ordered to undertake a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, aimed at addressing underlying issues related to his offending behavior.
Furthermore, Juneidi was mandated to register with the police under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, a legal requirement for individuals convicted of sexual offenses. To ensure ongoing protection and monitoring, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed on him for a period of ten years. This order restricts his activities and access to minors, serving as a safeguard for the community of Exmouth and beyond.
Overall, the case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system to combat the distribution and creation of child exploitation material, even when offenders are not immediately incarcerated. The community of Exmouth can be assured that such serious offenses are met with legal action, although in this instance, the court opted for a suspended sentence combined with strict conditions to prevent future harm.
