TELFORD DELIVERY DRIVER TANVEER AHMED SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX SALE INVOLVING FISH AND CHIP SHOP IN TELFORD

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Telford, a local fast food delivery driver named Tanveer Ahmed was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for his involvement in a child sex sale. The incident, which took place in 2009, involved Ahmed facilitating the prostitution of a teenage girl, who was only 16 at the time, by selling her for sex to a man working at a nearby fish and chip shop.

Ahmed, aged 40 and residing at Urban Gardens, Wellington, was brought before Wolverhampton Crown Court to face charges related to controlling a child prostitute. He pleaded guilty to this charge, acknowledging his role in the exploitation. The court heard that Ahmed's motivation was driven by financial need; he was paid approximately £40 for his role in the transaction. According to reports, Ahmed had lost money gambling and needed the cash to replace the float on his delivery round.

The judge presiding over the case, Mr. Justice Michael Challinor, delivered a stern judgment, emphasizing the serious harm caused by Ahmed’s actions. He stated that the damage inflicted upon the young girl was both 'considerable and inevitable' due to Ahmed’s decision to offer her to a stranger for sex. The judge pointed out that Ahmed, who had a close enough relationship with the girl, should have been aware of her vulnerability and the damage she had already suffered.

As part of his sentence, Ahmed will be registered on the sex offenders register indefinitely and is permanently barred from working with children. Despite being married with three children, Ahmed’s actions have led to severe legal consequences. The court also noted that Ahmed had denied two additional charges related to the girl’s prostitution and two charges of sexual activity with a minor. However, these charges were ordered to lie on file, meaning they will not be pursued further at this time.

Prosecutor Miss Debbie Gould provided details about the victim’s background, revealing that she met Ahmed when she was just 15 years old. At that time, she was heavily involved with several Asian men, which added complexity to her situation. The court learned that by the age of 16, the girl was engaged in sexual activities with Ahmed, who was aware that she was being prostituted by other men as well.

Further details revealed that Ahmed had a gambling problem, frequently visiting casinos and betting shops. It was reported that he had spent his float on gambling and then asked a fish and chip shop worker for £40, which he used to pay for sex with the girl. The girl engaged in sexual activity with Ahmed in his car while he waited in the shop, and the man who paid for her sex handed Ahmed £40 in change, which he used to replenish his float.

Ahmed’s defense lawyer, Mr. Peter Cooper, acknowledged the gravity of his client’s actions, stating that Ahmed accepted his conduct was inexcusable. The case has brought to light the disturbing reality of child exploitation in the Telford area, prompting calls for increased vigilance and protective measures for vulnerable young people.
