GALASHIELS WOMAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER ASSAULTING HER PARTNER

A GALASHIELS woman who admitted assaulting her partner has been ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work at Selkirk Sheriff Court.Tammy Taylor, 30, pleaded guilty to charges of assault, vandalism and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at her home in Croft Street on October 18.Depute fiscal Louise Alexander said the accused started having a sociable drink with her partner at 8.45pm.She continued: "At about 2.45am they began to argue about the partner receiving text messages from the accused's friends.

She then punched the man in the face."The partner then locked himself in a bedroom to try and avoid a further confrontation but Taylor managed to burst through it and the police were contacted.The fiscal said: "The accused threatened to go mental if she was arrested and was swearing in front of children.

She told police they would need a riot van to deal with her."She was cautioned and charged and made no reply.Defence lawyer Ross Dow said the couple had reconciled.He added: "It would appear there were problems in the background which led to this incident."Taylor was ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work.
