TAMER EREN FOUND GUILTY OF RAPE IN HULL
A man has been convicted of raping a stranger in Hull last year.Tamer Eren, aged 42 and residing on Southcoates Lane in Hull, was declared guilty today (Monday 21 March) of the rape of a woman, despite maintaining a not guilty plea throughout his trial at Hull Crown Court.
The court was told that Eren approached his victim at Drypool Bridge on Sunday, 19 September 2021, before assaulting her in a secluded area and raping her.
Detective Constable Lisa Grantham, from the Protecting Vulnerable People unit, commented: "Firstly, I would like to commend the bravery and courage of Tamer Eren's victim in coming forward and sharing their experience." She added, "This was a shocking incident that caused considerable concern within the wider community, and we are pleased that this dangerous individual will now face a lengthy period of imprisonment.
Not only did he commit a heinous crime, but he also refused to accept responsibility, subjecting his victim to the trauma of a trial." Detective Grantham also reassured the public, saying, "I would like to offer reassurance to anyone who may have experienced sexual abuse—if you come to us, we will listen, support you, and take action against those responsible.
We work closely with local authorities and various charities and agencies to ensure victims are given advice and support, whether they choose to pursue justice or not."
