BRADFORD MAN TALIB HUSSAIN FROM LIDGET GREEN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN LEEDS
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Bradford community, Talib Hussain, a 22-year-old man from Lidget Green, has been sentenced to two years in prison for a serious sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl. The incident, which took place in Leeds, culminated in Hussain admitting to the charges during his court appearance at Leeds Crown Court on June 17 of the previous year.Hussain's criminal record includes previous convictions, although none of a sexual nature. Despite this, his recent actions have led to a significant legal consequence, including his placement on the sex offenders register indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his offense.
The events leading to his conviction date back to November 2007, when the young girl was waiting in Great Horton Park, Bradford, for her boyfriend. According to court reports, Hussain approached her and engaged her in conversation, asking for her name. The girl, feeling uncomfortable, attempted to distance herself by walking away, clearly indicating her desire not to engage with a stranger. However, Hussain persisted, following her as she increased her pace.
As she tried to escape, Hussain ran after her, grabbing her around the waist and making an unsettling request, saying, “I am not going to hurt you. Can I have a kiss?” The prosecutor, Steven Crossley, detailed the distressing encounter, stating that Hussain then pulled her closer, despite her protests and pleas to be left alone. The girl was overwhelmed with fear, crying and screaming for him to release her.
During the assault, Hussain indecently touched the girl over her clothing with both hands before fleeing the scene. The trauma of the incident was compounded when, three days later, the girl encountered Hussain again in the same park while walking with her mother. She was visibly shaken, crying, and clutching her mother’s arm tightly. Her emotional distress prompted her mother to call the police.
Law enforcement officers responded swiftly, and Hussain was arrested in the park. The police investigation revealed that he had previous convictions, though none related to sexual offenses. His reappearance in the park and the subsequent arrest marked a significant development in the case, highlighting the ongoing concerns about his behavior and the safety of the community in Lidget Green and Bradford at large.
Hussain’s sentencing reflects the court’s recognition of the gravity of his actions and the impact on the young victim. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for robust legal measures to protect vulnerable individuals from sexual predators.
