TAISAN WILLIAMS FROM COEDPOETH SENTENCED IN WREXHAM FOR INDECENT IMAGES AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY

In August 2022, a young man from Coedpoeth, identified as Taisan Williams, faced serious criminal charges related to the possession of indecent images and extreme pornography. Williams, aged 22 and residing on Heol Bathafarn in Coedpoeth, appeared before Wrexham Magistrates Court to receive his sentencing after being convicted of multiple offenses involving indecent and prohibited material.

Williams had previously been found guilty of creating an indecent image of a child, possessing a prohibited image of a child, and possessing extreme pornography. These offenses were committed in the Wrexham area over a period spanning from September 2019 to June 2020. The court heard that the investigation into Williams' activities was initiated after police executed a warrant at his residence on July 21. During the search, several electronic devices belonging to Williams were seized for forensic analysis.

The police investigation revealed disturbing evidence. On Williams' phone, authorities discovered an indecent image classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe level of such material. In addition, two other prohibited images and eleven extreme pornographic images were also recovered from his devices. The images depicted children aged between four and ten years old. Prosecutor Justin Espie explained to the court that Williams had employed multiple methods to browse and access these illicit images, indicating a deliberate and sustained interest in such material.

Further analysis of Williams' devices uncovered files that suggested an interest in child sexual abuse. The court was informed that Williams had used software designed to erase his web browsing history, such as cleaning tools, which pointed to an attempt to conceal his activities. Despite these efforts, the evidence was substantial enough to establish his involvement in the possession of illegal content.

In sentencing, Deputy District Judge Gerallt Jones opted against immediate imprisonment. Instead, he handed down a 26-week custodial sentence, which was suspended for two years, meaning Williams would not serve time unless he committed another offense within that period. The judge also mandated that Williams participate in 40 sessions of an accredited rehabilitation program and complete 45 days of additional rehabilitation activities. Furthermore, he was ordered to perform 50 hours of unpaid community work.

Additional penalties included a financial component: Williams was required to pay costs amounting to £85 and a victim surcharge of £128. The court also imposed notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act, which will remain in effect for seven years. Moreover, Williams was subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same duration, restricting his activities and monitoring his behavior to prevent future offenses.
