SYED KAZMI FROM HILLINGDON SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND CHILD PREGNANCY

In a case that has shocked the community of Hillingdon, Syed Kazmi, aged 38, was sentenced to an indefinite prison term after being convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl, an assault that resulted in her becoming pregnant. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing account of manipulation and deception, with Kazmi claiming he was 'possessed' by black magic at the time of the offenses.

Kazmi, a resident of Westbourne Road in Hillingdon, appeared before Isleworth Crown Court to face charges related to his heinous acts. The court heard that he had initially resisted admitting guilt, attempting to avoid conviction by prevaricating and trying to change his pleas. It was only after a lengthy legal process that he finally admitted to raping the young girl in May 2005, as well as during the period from August 1 to December 31, 2005.

Prosecutor Graham Lodge detailed to the court that Kazmi had seduced the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and had engaged in multiple sexual acts with her while he was in a position of trust and authority. The court was told that the girl had complained of cramp, prompting Kazmi to take her to see a doctor. It was during this medical consultation that the doctor discovered she was pregnant, leading to the authorities being informed of the situation.

Initially, Kazmi denied being the father of the unborn child. However, DNA testing confirmed his paternity, and he subsequently admitted to the charges. In a bizarre attempt to avoid conviction, Kazmi then tried to change his plea to not guilty, claiming that he had engaged in sexual activity with the girl because he was 'possessed' by black magic, as explained by his legal counsel, Kerry Maylin. The court, however, refused to allow this plea change after a thorough hearing.

The girl gave birth to a baby girl last year, a consequence of the assault that has left a lasting impact on her life. During the proceedings, Ms. Maylin stated that Kazmi's wife was standing by him and wished for him to return home. Nevertheless, Kazmi's sentence includes a ban from working with children and a lifetime registration on the sex offenders' register. Additionally, he is prohibited from being on premises with anyone under 16 without another adult present.

While the sentence is indefinite, legal experts noted that Kazmi could potentially be released in less than four years, as the judge set the minimum term at that length. The case has raised serious concerns about safeguarding and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable minors within the community of Hillingdon.
