SUZANNE EVANS FROM NEWPORT INVOLVED IN SEX OFFENSES WITH 13-YEAR-OLD BOY IN CARDIFF

In a case that has shocked the local community, Suzanne Evans, a 24-year-old woman from Newport, was brought before Cardiff Crown Court to face serious allegations related to her inappropriate conduct with a minor. The court heard that Evans, who resides in the Maindee area of Newport, engaged in a series of sexual activities with a 13-year-old schoolboy over a span of three months, actions that have led to her being ordered to register as a sex offender.

According to the court proceedings, Evans admitted to having sexual relations with the young boy on two separate occasions. She claimed to have loved him, a statement that added a disturbing layer to the case. The court was informed that she not only engaged in sexual acts but also allowed the boy to use her car, despite knowing that he was too young to legally drive. This act of giving him access to her vehicle was particularly concerning, as it facilitated his overnight stays in the car, which he began doing out of fear of being reprimanded by his parents for staying out late at her house.

Prosecutor Tom Crowther detailed the allegations, stating, “She admitted she knew he was 13 and said they had sex twice — once in her home and once in the car.” He further emphasized her awareness of the boy’s age and her involvement in multiple indecent acts over the course of three months. The court was told that Evans, who is a mother herself, performed a series of indecent acts on the boy, which included sexual intercourse and other inappropriate behaviors.

During the hearing, Evans’s defense lawyer, Suzanne Thomas, acknowledged the gravity of the case, describing it as “very serious and shocking.” However, she argued that Evans “did not specifically target this boy for the purposes of sexual gratification,” suggesting that her actions were not premeditated with the intent to exploit the minor.

Judge Christopher Morton delivered the verdict, sentencing Evans to three years of community rehabilitation. Additionally, he ordered her to register as a sex offender for a period of five years. The judge expressed concern about the impact of her actions, noting, “The young boy was willing. It is hard to gauge the effect of this on him or his family but it must have been significant.” The case has left a lasting impression on the community, highlighting the serious consequences of such misconduct and the importance of safeguarding minors from exploitation.
