SULEMAN MAHMOOD FROM BLACKBURN JAILED FOR GROOMING TEENAGE GIRLS IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Blackburn, a 28-year-old man named Suleman Mahmood has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for his attempts to groom underage girls.
The incident, which took place in June 2022, involved Mahmood engaging in online conversations with individuals he believed to be 13 and 14-year-old girls, with the intent of exploiting them sexually.
Mahmood was convicted and subsequently sentenced to five years and eight months behind bars during a hearing last week.
The court heard that he had actively tried to persuade the teenage girls to send him explicit images of themselves, a clear violation of laws protecting minors from sexual exploitation.
However, it was later revealed that Mahmood's communications were not with real minors but with decoys from the Online Child Abuse Activist Group (OCAAG), who had set up the sting to catch predators.
In addition to his prison sentence, Mahmood was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his future activities.
Furthermore, he was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes strict limitations on his internet usage and interactions with children, aiming to prevent any further attempts at exploitation.
The case has raised serious concerns about online safety and the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable minors from predators operating in digital spaces within Blackburn and beyond.
