STUART BAIGENT CAUGHT IN PLYMOUTH IN ONLINE GROOMING STING BY JUSTICE FOR THE INNOCENT

In a recent development in a disturbing case of online child exploitation, Stuart Baigent, a 44-year-old man from Plymouth, has been caught in a sting operation conducted by the vigilant group Justice for the Innocent.

The incident unfolded when members of this organization confronted Baigent in the streets of Plymouth, capturing the entire encounter on video and exposing his inappropriate intentions towards a decoy posing as a 14-year-old girl.

Baigent, a father of two residing on Grassendale Avenue in North Prospect, believed he was engaging in explicit online communication with a minor.

Unbeknownst to him, he was actually speaking with members of Justice for the Innocent, who specialize in identifying and confronting online groomers.

The group had set up a decoy profile to simulate a teenage girl, and Baigent’s messages, which included sexually explicit content, were recorded and later posted online for public awareness.

The footage, which lasts approximately 41 minutes and was uploaded to YouTube last year, shows the group questioning Baigent about his actions.

During the confrontation, they read back some of the explicit messages he had sent, even after the decoy had stated she was only 14 years old.

One of the group members challenged him directly, asking, “How would you feel if this was your son?” Baigent was visibly uncomfortable and responded with remorse, stating, “I am disgusted with myself.

I am horrified with myself.” Following his arrest, Baigent appeared before Plymouth Crown Court to face charges of attempted sexual communication with a minor.

He pleaded guilty to attempting to contact a 14-year-old girl for sexual gratification between January 15 and January 26 of the previous year.

The court proceedings revealed that Baigent’s actions were deliberate, and he admitted to trying to establish contact with a minor for sexual purposes.

Judge Paul Darlow, who presided over the case, decided to release Baigent on bail until his sentencing scheduled for November 22.

The court also heard that the Crown Prosecution Service was preparing a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to monitor and restrict Baigent’s online activity, aiming to prevent any future offenses.

The judge issued a stern warning, emphasizing that there were no guarantees or promises regarding the restrictions, and reminded Baigent that he was in a wheelchair, but that did not exempt him from the court’s scrutiny.

The video footage from Justice for the Innocent depicts the moment they confronted Baigent while he was seated in his car.

The group clarified that they are not vigilantes seeking to harm him but are instead dedicated to protecting children from predators.

They explained that Baigent had attended multiple previous operations before finally being caught.

During the questioning, Baigent mostly responded with brief, one-word answers as his sexually explicit messages were read aloud.

The decoy, acting as the girl, expressed some reluctance to comply with his perverted requests, but Baigent continued to encourage her.

In his own words, Baigent admitted on camera that he had done wrong, asserting that this was his first attempt to contact a child for sexual purposes.

He claimed that “nothing was going to happen” with the girl, attempting to downplay the severity of his actions.

Members of Justice for the Innocent highlighted the broader issue of child abuse, stating that “hundreds of thousands” of children suffer at the hands of adults and are left feeling “soulless” and “dead inside.” The case underscores the ongoing efforts of community groups to combat online grooming and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.
