STEWART ANDREWS AND HIS SON SAMUEL FROM CROWTHORNE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN READING

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Crowthorne, a father and his son have been found guilty and sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against a young girl. The proceedings took place at Reading Crown Court, where both Stewart Andrews, aged 57, and his 23-year-old son Samuel Andrews appeared on Friday, August 19, to face charges related to the long-term sexual exploitation of the minor.

Stewart Andrews, who was residing in Alicante, Spain at the time, and Samuel Andrews, living at Shaw Park in Crowthorne, were brought before the court following a detailed trial held in July. The case revealed a pattern of abuse that spanned several years, beginning when the girl was only nine years old. The court heard evidence of repeated offenses, which included a range of sexual acts inflicted upon the young victim.

Stewart Andrews was convicted of a total of 11 sexual offenses. He had previously admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a child, and the court found him guilty of additional charges. His crimes included a serious charge of rape, for which he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Additionally, he received another 12-year sentence for attempted rape of a girl under the age of 13. The court also handed down sentences for other serious offenses, such as two counts of sexual assault on a child under 12, inciting or causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and six counts of sexual activity with a minor. All these sentences are to be served concurrently, resulting in a total prison term of 59 years.

Furthermore, Stewart Andrews was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order. This order strictly prohibits him from having any unsupervised contact with female children under the age of 16, except in cases where such contact is incidental and unavoidable during lawful daily activities. The court emphasized the severity of his actions and the need to protect vulnerable minors from further harm.

Samuel Andrews, the son, was convicted of two counts of sexual activity with a child. His sentence was comparatively lighter—a nine-month prison term, which has been suspended for two years. As part of his rehabilitation, Samuel was also ordered to participate in the Thames Valley Sex Offenders programme, aimed at preventing recidivism and promoting awareness of the gravity of his offenses.

The judge, Richard Parkes, delivered a stern judgment, describing Stewart Andrews as a “shameless” individual who displayed a “cunning and manipulative” nature. The court detailed how Andrews engaged in a “classic grooming process,” systematically abusing the trust of the young girl over an extended period. The case has left a lasting impact on the community of Crowthorne, highlighting the importance of vigilance and safeguarding vulnerable children from predatory behavior.
