SHEFFIELD MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY EXPLICIT PHONE CALLS
A Sheffield man responsible for subjecting two women to years of abusive and sexually explicit phone calls is now incarcerated.
Steven Turner, 49, called the women from a hidden number, making offensive and sexually explicit comments that caused them considerable distress.
Turner, who resides on Manor Park Crescent, initially claimed his phone had been compromised when questioned, denying any knowledge of the harassment.
However, after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court last Thursday, he was found guilty of two counts of stalking that led to serious alarm and distress.
He was sentenced the next day to two years in prison and was issued two five-year restraining orders, which prevent him from contacting the victims.
South Yorkshire Police’s PC Thomas Rogers said: “Turner’s actions inflicted lasting torment on the victims.
It’s only just that he’s now jailed for this horrific, unprovoked harassment.
I’d like to commend the victims for their bravery during the investigation and court process, and I hope they can now start to rebuild their lives with the knowledge that justice has been achieved.”
