STEVEN MOSES FROM STANLEY SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR ABUSE IN NORTH EAST

In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Stanley, North East England, paedophile Steven Moses has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 15 years for a series of sickening sexual offences committed against a very young boy. The conviction, handed down at Newcastle Crown Court, highlights the severity of the crimes and the devastating impact they have had on the victim.

Steven Moses, aged 30 and residing on Wesley Terrace in Stanley, was found guilty of multiple charges including rape, sexual assault, and inciting a child into sexual activity. The court heard disturbing details of the abuse, which took place when the young boy was just three or four years old. The judge, Mr. Justice Goss QC, expressed his condemnation of Moses’ actions, emphasizing the profound harm inflicted upon the child.

During the sentencing, Judge Goss stated, “When the boy was aged three or four years old, you subjected him to a number of sexual attacks. The following year, he confided in someone that he had no friends at school because he was considered dirty and naughty, similar to you, Steven Moses. There can be no doubt that he has been significantly harmed by what has happened to him.”

The court proceedings revealed grim and distressing details of the abuse. It was noted that the boy initially appeared happy when he started attending nursery at the age of three. However, as Moses’ abuse continued, the child's behavior changed dramatically. He became withdrawn, lash out unexpectedly, and would cry without apparent reason, prompting concern from nursery staff.

Evidence presented during the trial also indicated that Moses attempted to manipulate the young boy by offering presents as a form of bribery during the abuse. Despite denying the allegations, Moses was convicted by a jury after a trial that uncovered the full extent of his misconduct.

In addition to the prison sentence, Moses is now required to register as a sex offender indefinitely. He was also subjected to a sexual offences prevention order, which restricts his activities, and he is banned from working with children in any capacity. These measures aim to prevent any further harm and protect the community from potential future offences.

Defence lawyer David Callan argued that Moses had suffered violence at the hands of his father and insisted that he was not a paedophile prior to these offences. Nonetheless, the court’s verdict reflects the gravity of the crimes committed and the need for strict punishment to serve justice for the young victim and the wider community.
