SCOTLAND DENTIST STEVEN MACMILLAN FROM DALKEITH FACES JAIL OVER SEXUAL MESSAGES TO 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL

A man identified as Steven MacMillan, a dentist by profession, is currently facing serious legal consequences after engaging in inappropriate and sexually explicit communication with a young girl. The incident unfolded when MacMillan, who is now residing in Dalkeith, approached a 13-year-old girl through social media platforms, initially claiming to be a dentist from Scotland. The communication began innocuously but quickly took a disturbing turn after the girl revealed her age.

Between February and March 2023, the girl and MacMillan exchanged messages, during which he engaged in sexually explicit conversations. The girl, who was underage, sent an explicit image of herself performing a sexual act to him, which prompted MacMillan to respond with a series of unsettling voice notes. In one of these messages, he ominously stated, "When daddy asks you to do something you better do it or there will be trouble," and in another, he said, "Good girls do what they are told."

The girl's mother discovered the messages on her daughter's phone and, alarmed by their content, took immediate action. She contacted an online vigilante group dedicated to exposing online predators. This group confronted MacMillan at his residence in Strathaven, Lanarkshire, which ultimately led to police involvement and further investigation.

During the court proceedings at Hamilton Sheriff Court, MacMillan admitted to engaging in indecent communication with the young girl. The court was informed that the girl had initially accepted a friend request from a user named 'ImplantXXX' on Snapchat. She disclosed her age during the chat, and MacMillan falsely claimed to be 33 years old and a dentist. Over the course of their conversations, he discussed sexual topics and sent eight voice notes containing vile sexual remarks.

Following the discovery of the messages, MacMillan was charged and brought before the court. His case was adjourned to allow for further reports, and his bail was continued under strict conditions. The court issued a stern warning that all legal options, including imprisonment, would be considered based on the outcome of the reports. Additionally, MacMillan was placed on the sex offenders' register as part of the court's sentencing measures.

Prosecutors also accepted a plea of not guilty regarding a separate charge involving the sending of sexual messages to an adult pretending to be a child. Furthermore, MacMillan was cleared of allegations related to sending messages to another adult who was pretending to be a 16-year-old girl, indicating that the case was complex and involved multiple facets of online misconduct.
