LOCHGELLY RAPIST STEVEN CARRIE BOASTS ABOUT SEXUAL ASSAULT AFTER RELEASE FROM PRISON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Steven Carrie, a man from Lochgelly, was involved in a heinous sexual assault that has garnered significant attention. The incident took place in October 2018, when Carrie, then 24 years old, committed a serious crime against his 20-year-old partner while she was sleeping at a property in Abbeyview, Dunfermline.

According to court records and victim testimony, Carrie had met the young woman several months prior through a mutual friend and colleague. Their relationship was described by friends as brief and marked by unsettling behavior. The victim recounted that Carrie was often strange and exhibited unusual tendencies, which later became evident in the assault.

Following the incident, the victim immediately reported the rape to Police Scotland. Law enforcement officials responded swiftly, collecting clothing and bedding from the scene for forensic analysis. The victim also underwent a medical examination to gather evidence that would support the prosecution’s case. The forensic evidence played a crucial role in securing a conviction against Carrie.

In November 2019, Carrie was arrested and formally charged with the crime. During the legal proceedings, it was revealed that Carrie had a disturbing attitude towards the assault. His auntie made derogatory comments and sent threatening, abusive messages to the victim, further complicating the case.

Carrie later posted on the social media platform Tumblr under the username “positive–energy,” where he boasted about the assault. He claimed that he raped his partner to fulfill a sexual fantasy called “sleep play,” despite the victim having previously expressed disinterest in such acts. Court testimonies indicated that Carrie was sexually controlling and coerced the victim into engaging in unusual sexual activities. The victim testified that she woke up to find herself being raped, remaining frozen in fear with her eyes closed. Carrie continued his assault until she shouted, “what are you doing?”, at which point he ceased and told her to “press charges then.”

The psychological impact on the victim was profound. She was diagnosed with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and experienced stress-induced seizures, which severely affected her daily life. The court heard how the trauma had lasting effects, causing significant mental health challenges.

On August 23, 2019, Glasgow High Court sentenced Carrie to 40 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to the charge of rape under Section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009. His plea was entered on July 18, 2019, at Edinburgh High Court. After serving his sentence, Carrie was released in 2021.

Since his release, Carrie has been residing in a scatter flat in the Lochgelly area of Fife. Concerned members of the public have reported sightings of him on dating apps such as Tinder and on Facebook, raising ongoing safety concerns within the community.
