During this encounter, he asked inappropriate and lewd questions about her underwear, causing obvious distress. Fortunately, the girl’s mother, who was following her daughter by car to ensure her safety, intervened before any further harm could occur.

Further investigations linked Trimble to another incident shortly afterward, where he approached an eight-year-old girl on Hykeham Road. He attempted to engage her in similar lewd conversations, raising serious concerns about his intentions and the potential risk he posed to children in the area.

Authorities traced Trimble through his works van, which was linked to the incidents. It was also revealed that he had been on bail following a series of telephone calls made three months earlier to the home of another young girl, an eight-year-old, raising questions about his ongoing predatory behavior and the adequacy of previous legal measures.

During sentencing, Judge Michael Heath described Trimble as a “plainly dangerous offender,” emphasizing the gravity of his actions and his own admission of being attracted to children. The judge stated, “You admit you are sexually attracted to children and you describe yourself as a paedophile,” underscoring the seriousness of the case and the potential threat to the community.
