SHOCKING CRIME: STEPHEN SPENCER OF GLASTONBURY SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR CHILD RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Glastonbury, Stephen Spencer, a 37-year-old resident of Tor View Avenue, was handed down a severe prison sentence of 18 years after being convicted on multiple serious charges involving child sexual abuse. The sentencing took place at Taunton Crown Court on Wednesday, February 13, following a lengthy legal process that highlighted the gravity of his crimes.

Spencer’s case was deemed so serious that magistrates, in a prior hearing in August 2018, decided it was necessary to escalate the proceedings to the higher court in Taunton. The court heard that Spencer was found guilty of five counts of raping a girl under the age of 13, a crime that has profoundly impacted the victims and their families. Additionally, he was convicted of sexually assaulting another girl under the age of 13. These convictions underscore the disturbing nature of his offenses and the breach of trust involved.
