SEVENOAKS PAEDOPHILE STEPHEN MADGE SENTENCED FOR ABUSE OF TEENAGE BOY DURING CHARITY WORK
In a case that has shocked the local community of Sevenoaks, a man named Stephen Madge has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous crimes committed against a teenage boy during the 1990s. The offences, which involved repeated acts of indecent assault, came to light more than two decades after they occurred, highlighting the long-lasting impact of such abuse.Madge, who resides in Sevenoaks, was brought to justice after allegations surfaced in November 2014. It was reported to Kent Police that he had been responsible for multiple offences during his involvement in a charity project. The victim, a teenage boy at the time, was targeted by Madge, who developed an unhealthy obsession with him. The abuse reportedly took place throughout 1993, with Madge repeatedly assaulting the young individual during that period.
Following the allegations, law enforcement officers acted swiftly. In May 2015, they executed a search and arrest operation at Madge’s residence on Bradbourne Vale Road in Sevenoaks. Despite Madge’s initial denials of any wrongdoing, he was formally charged with six counts of indecent assault. The case proceeded to trial, where the evidence presented led a jury to reach a unanimous verdict of guilt on all counts.
Today, Madge was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court. He received a prison term of six years, reflecting the severity of his crimes. Additionally, he was subjected to an extended licence period of one year, which means he will be monitored and subject to certain restrictions even after his release. To further protect the public, Madge was also issued a sexual harm prevention order, which imposes restrictions on his activities and contact with vulnerable individuals. Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public awareness of his status.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the need for victims to come forward, regardless of how much time has passed since the abuse occurred. The community of Sevenoaks can now be assured that justice has been served in this troubling case involving one of their residents.
