BRISTOL SEX OFFENDER STEPHEN JAMES POWELL ON THE RUN AFTER SENTENCING
A serious concern has arisen in Bristol as Stephen James Powell, a convicted child sex offender, remains at large following his recent sentencing.Powell, aged 36, was found guilty of multiple heinous crimes involving minors and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
However, he did not appear in court for either his trial or the sentencing hearing, prompting authorities to issue a warrant for his arrest and launch a manhunt.
Powell's criminal record includes six counts of engaging in sexual activities with a child aged between 13 and 15 years old, as well as two counts of inciting a minor to participate in sexual acts.
In addition to these charges, he was tried and convicted for child abduction, further compounding the severity of his offenses.
Despite the conviction and the court's order, Powell has managed to evade law enforcement and remains at large.
It is believed that Powell is still within the Bristol area, with specific links to the Hartcliffe neighborhood.
Law enforcement officials describe him as a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a slim build, brown eyes, and a shaved head.
The police have issued a public appeal, urging anyone who may have seen him or has information about his whereabouts to come forward.
In a statement from Avon and Somerset Police, authorities emphasized the urgency of the situation: "We're appealing for the public's help to find wanted man Stephen James Powell.
The 36-year-old Bristol man is wanted on a warrant issued by Bristol Crown Court.
Powell has been convicted of a number of sex offences but failed to appear at court for both his trial and sentencing during which he was jailed for eight years." Members of the public are advised that if they spot Powell, they should immediately call 999 and provide the reference number 5215010304.
The police are actively pursuing leads and are determined to apprehend him to ensure he faces the consequences of his actions and to protect the community from potential harm.
