SHOCKING CRIMES OF STEPHEN HINDLEY IN PLYMOUTH AND CAMBORNE REVEALED
In a series of disturbing incidents spanning several years, Stephen Hindley, a man with a long history of sexual offences against children, has been brought to justice in courts across Plymouth and Camborne. His crimes include grooming minors online, attempting to meet children for sexual purposes, and possessing a vast collection of indecent images of children, some of the most severe category.
Hindley's criminal activities have left a trail of victims and have prompted stringent sentencing measures.
In June 2022, Hindley, aged 32, appeared via video link from HMP The Verne at Truro Crown Court to face sentencing for a series of heinous offences committed in Camborne during December 2020 and January 2021.
He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including inciting a girl under 13 to engage in penetrative sexual activity, inciting her to perform non-penetrative sexual acts, and engaging in sexual communications with a child.
The case was built on evidence gathered from Snapchat conversations, where Hindley used profiles named Jamie T and JamieLovesP*ssy to groom the young girl.
The prosecution, led by Heather Hope, detailed how the victim’s mother became suspicious after noticing her daughter’s secretive behaviour at school, including sneaking her phone and recording TikTok videos.
When the phone was examined, it revealed distressing messages exchanged with Hindley, who asked the girl if she wanted to be naughty and make him hard.
Further investigation uncovered that Hindley had been communicating with the girl using two profiles, and the mother saw the nature of these messages.
She responded by telling Hindley to go away, but despite this, Hindley continued to request explicit pictures and videos, including recordings of the girl penetrating herself with a pen.
Hindley's depravity was further exposed when he persuaded the girl to send explicit videos of herself.
He even got her to record herself penetrating herself with objects.
Hindley, who was already serving time in Plymouth for other sexual offences against children, admitted to full responsibility during a prison interview.
He claimed to have ignored a warning message from the girl’s mother and acknowledged his sexual interest in girls of that age.
Judge Simon Carr, addressing Hindley’s sentencing, expressed his condemnation of the defendant’s actions.
He highlighted Hindley's extensive criminal record, which includes previous convictions for similar offences, and emphasized the significant risk Hindley poses to children.
The judge sentenced Hindley to eight years in prison, with an additional four years on extended licence, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the danger he represents.
Hindley's criminal history is extensive.
In 2021, he attempted to meet a 13-year-old girl after grooming her online but was intercepted by police.
Authorities found hundreds of vile images on his computer, including those depicting babies being sexually abused, tortured, and burnt.
His past convictions include a 2014 jail sentence for exposing himself to four young girls in Plymouth, and in 2017, he stalked a schoolgirl and exposed himself in Estover, Plymouth.
His pattern of predatory behaviour has been ongoing for years, leading to multiple convictions and orders to control his conduct.
In another disturbing episode in June 2021, Hindley, then aged 31, handed money to two children, a brother and sister aged 10 and 12, in Plymouth, encouraging them to contact him via Snapchat for more money.
The children reported the incident to their mother, who contacted police.
An undercover officer then posed as a 13-year-old girl named Freya, and Hindley engaged in explicit conversations, requesting indecent pictures and sending a video of himself performing an indecent act.
He arranged to meet the girl for sex but was arrested before the meeting could occur.
Police found over 500 indecent images of children on his computer, including 221 videos of the most severe kind, involving very young children.
Hindley's criminal record also includes a 2014 conviction for exposing himself to schoolgirls in Plymouth, and in 2017, he stalked a schoolgirl in a van, performing an indecent act in front of her.
He was caught following her and making lewd gestures.
His history of offending demonstrates a pattern of predatory behaviour, leading to his current extended sentence.
The court ordered Hindley to sign the Sex Offender Register for life and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his contact with children and monitor his behaviour.
Throughout these proceedings, Hindley's actions have been met with condemnation from the courts, reflecting the serious nature of his offences and the ongoing threat he poses to the safety of children in Plymouth, Camborne, and beyond.
His case underscores the importance of vigilance and robust legal action against individuals who exploit and harm vulnerable minors.
