STEPHEN HALL SENTENCED TO SIX MONTHS IN JAIL FOR HORRIFIC ANIMAL SEX IN HULL
In March 2002, Stephen Hall, aged 23, was sentenced to six months in jail after witnesses aboard a train saw him engaging in sexual activity with a goat.Hall had prior involvement with the animal, having tied a belt around the neck of a female goat at allotments in Hull before proceeding to have penetrative sex with it on August 8 of the previous year.
Commuters traveling on the Hull-to-Bridlington train, which had halted near signals, observed the disturbing scene in horror and promptly contacted emergency services.
Initially denying the charges and requesting an identification parade, Hall later pleaded guilty in January to one count of buggery with an animal.
Forensic evidence confirmed that semen collected from Hall's clothing matched that found at the scene, and samples of hair from the goat were also recovered from his underpants.
Judge Michael Mettyear at Hull Crown Court condemned the incident as “bizarre and disgusting.” The court was informed that a pre-sentence report recommended that Hall be barred from associating with children; however, the judge clarified that he lacked the authority to issue such an order.
He stated, “Since the beginning of last year the court has the power to order that you should not work with children.
However this only relates to cases where the offence concerns a child.
I would like to be able to make such an order.” Addressing Hall's background, Judge Mettyear mentioned that the pre-sentence report indicated he had shown signs of “preoccupation with sex,” “emotional instability,” and difficulties with maintaining relationships.
Referring to Hall’s earlier conviction for indecent assault against a six-year-old girl, the report noted: “Mr Hall targets vulnerable victims, a child in the first instance and now an animal.”
