MAN SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ATTACK ON GIRLFRIEND IN LIVERPOOL
A man named Stephen Flint was involved in a violent domestic assault and was sentenced in Liverpool Crown Court. The incident occurred after a family day out for his birthday, which escalated into a horrific attack on his partner Stephanie Manifold in her bedroom.
Flint entered her room armed with a hammer and a knife, and proceeded to attack her, stabbing her in the hand and forearm while she tried to protect her face.
Their young daughter was left frightened and pleaded with her father to stop during the assault.
Flint later expressed remorse, saying he "hated himself" and was "embarrassed" after seeing the injuries he caused.
The court heard about his history of violence, including a previous assault in 2021 during which he damaged property, grappled with a man, and threatened to blow up the house.
Flint, who has a history of convictions including wounding and assault, admitted unlawful wounding and was handed a 24-month imprisonment suspended for two years.
He was also banned from contacting Ms Manifold for five years and required to complete a rehabilitation program.
The judge emphasized that Flint's actions were serious but also acknowledged his efforts to rehabilitate himself, highlighting his mental health issues and desire to change.
The court warned him that if he committed domestic violence again, he should bring his bag with him, implying he could face prison time.
Flint's case underscores the importance of intervention and support for domestic abusers, and the court highlighted that any recurrence would lead to imprisonment.
