STEPHEN DU FEU JAILED IN GUERNSEY FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

In January 2011, a man from Guernsey was sentenced to three months in prison after being found in possession of indecent images of children. Stephen Mark Du Feu, aged 50, appeared before Guernsey's Magistrates' Court on a Thursday to face eight separate charges related to the possession of such material.

Du Feu had already admitted guilt to all eight charges prior to the hearing. The charges involved a total of 267 images and three videos stored on computer hard drives that he owned. The investigation into Du Feu's activities was initiated in 2009 when authorities from Lothian and Borders Police in Scotland examined his email chatroom accounts, which led to the discovery of the illicit material.

During the sentencing proceedings, Magistrate Philip Robey acknowledged the profound impact the case had on Du Feu’s life, describing it as having been 'wrecked' by the circumstances. Despite this, the magistrate took into account Du Feu’s guilty plea, which was considered a mitigating factor in the case. The court ultimately sentenced him to a three-month jail term, emphasizing the seriousness of possessing such harmful material and the importance of upholding legal standards in protecting children.
