LONDON OVERWATCH SUCCESSFULLY SNAGS CHILD PREDATOR IN GUERNSEY
A London-based activist group which actively engaged in identifying and apprehending a child sexual predator has expressed satisfaction with the recent guilty verdict against Darrin Bellingham. The Group, known as London Overwatch, reported that their team initiated contact with Bellingham under the assumption he was speaking with a 13-year-old girl named Abbie, who was actually a decoy profile set up by the group.
They described Bellingham as a particularly harmful online predator whose actions prompted immediate collaboration with Guernsey Police.
Following their handover of evidence, Bellingham was arrested and subsequently stood trial.
Last Thursday, the Royal Court of Guernsey convicted him of multiple sexual offences, including attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual acts, sending indecent messages, arranging or facilitating a child sex offence, and attempting to groom a child for sexual conduct, which he denied.
He is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
The group applauded the Guernsey Police for their proactive approach and reaffirmed their commitment to continue their work within the bounds of the law, emphasizing the importance of parental vigilance and online safety.
London Overwatch stated, “Darrin was a particularly bad online predator that gave us grave concerns, hence us handing him in to the amazing Guernsey Police immediately to be investigated and processed.” They also expressed hope that the sentencing will reflect the gravity of his online behaviour, particularly as he believed he was communicating with an underage girl.
