‘Sexual predator’ jailed for raping teenager and abducting two more
A man who abducted three teenage girls, handcuffed and raped one of his victims has been jailed for a life (minimum of five years)
Stephen Dickson, who was convicted at Aberdeen High Court in August, was also robbed two of his victims and attempted to abduct a fourth.
He will not be released from prison until he is judged by authorities to no longer be a threat to the public.
The 50-year-old’s victims were aged between 14 and 17, while the woman he attempted to abduct was 18.
Dickson targeted his first victim, a 17-year-old, in October 2007 and targeted another two women before abducting a 15-year-old girl in January this year and raping and robbing her in the Torry area of Aberdeen.
The family of his 15-year-old victim – who cannot be named for legal reasons – branded him a “sexual predator”.
“On January 2 my beautiful daughter’s life, my life and the lives of our family changed at the hands of this sexual predator,” a family statement said.
“If it was not for the dedication, commitment and unconditional support of detective inspector Cammy Preston and his amazing team, Grampian Police, support workers at Rape and Abuse Support, the procurator fiscals office, police doctors and the Torry community, I cannot begin to imagine what life would have been like.
“We left the UK following this terrible event, but the support still continues and we have to thank family and friends for the support and love they continue to give us.
“From the moment the investigation began, Grampian Police and the other organisations involved ensured the main priority was my daughter.
“We have to thank everyone involved in capturing this sexual predator, allowing my daughter and other victims some closure.”
