DISGRACED FORMER GP STEPHEN CROSBY SENTENCED FOR PUBLIC INDECENCY RELAPSE
A disgraced doctor who was previously convicted of multiple sex offences, Stephen Crosby, has been once again brought to justice for offending in public.Crosby, aged 71, was caught sitting beside a teenage girl on a bus when he was observed staring at her repeatedly and engaging in inappropriate behaviour.
The victim, an 18-year-old student, noticed Crosby had his hand inside his trousers and was masturbating, which she documented with her phone before leaving the bus and contacting police.
At Liverpool Crown Court, Crosby was found guilty of outraging public decency after denying the offence but was convicted by a jury.
Upon sentencing, Recorder Philip Barnes stated, "You made her feel most uncomfortable and fearful.
The reason she was in fear of you was because you had your hand inside your trousers and were masturbating.
She had the presence of mind to take a photograph of you.
It was plain what you were doing.
You denied the offence to the jury, but they rejected those denials and convicted you.
You have continued to deny this offence and much of your previous offending history." He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Crosby has a long history of sexual offences, including previous convictions for assaulting patients during unnecessary examinations, and was imprisoned for five years in 2004 and 2016.
He also received community orders for public indecency incidents.
His counsel argued he was a family man and a carer for his ill wife, but the judge emphasized that Crosby's pattern of behaviour spanned over 20 years, with numerous victims and repeated refusals to accept responsibility.
