BURNLEY MAN SENTENCED FOR THREATENING MESSAGES AND RESTRAINING ORDER BREACH
Stephen Clark, aged 36, was sentenced for multiple offences including sending threatening messages to his ex-partner and her family during Christmas Day and Boxing Day, which included threats to kill her.
He had previously been under a restraining order that prohibited contact with her and her address, following a conviction for criminal damage in 2021.
Despite the order, Clark breached it repeatedly, attending her residence and sending messages that stated, 'You and your family are going to see fireworks' and 'You want to play games?
We’ll see who’s most daring.' He also sent threatening messages to her sister, including, 'You would be alive tomorrow,' and, 'Not if I set her alight.' During police interviews, Clark claimed he had not contacted his ex during the restraining order period and answered 'no comment' to other questions.
He spent 149 days on remand and was ultimately sentenced at Preston Crown Court to 16 months in prison for his offences.
The court also described his behaviour as far exceeding normal conflicts and noted his previous convictions for battery, harassment, and malicious messaging.
