STANLEY JACKSON FROM NEWTONGRANGE AND BONNYRIGG JAILED FOR SEX OFFENSES AND PEEPING TERROR
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Bonnyrigg and Newtongrange, Stanley Jackson, a 64-year-old man from Redwood Grove, Newtongrange, was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of heinous sexual misconduct and voyeuristic acts. The High Court in Edinburgh heard harrowing details of Jackson's criminal behavior, which included invasive acts aimed at a teenage girl.Jackson's criminal activities involved more than just inappropriate contact. He had taken extreme measures to spy on his young victim by drilling a hole in the ceiling of a bathroom, allowing him to observe her without her knowledge while she was in a state of undress. This act of voyeurism was complemented by his efforts to peer through a cupboard, further invading her privacy and causing significant distress.
The court also learned that Jackson had molested the girl, touching her breasts inappropriately and showing her pornography, actions that compounded the severity of his crimes. These acts took place over a period when the girl was under 16, specifically at a residence in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, between November 1978 and November 1982.
Jackson's past was also scrutinized during the proceedings. He had previously been convicted of lewd and indecent behavior towards the same girl, highlighting a pattern of predatory conduct. His earlier conviction underscored the ongoing threat he posed to vulnerable individuals.
Following his sentencing, Jackson was informed that he would be required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, a measure aimed at monitoring his activities and preventing further harm. The case has left a lasting impact on the local communities, raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding minors and ensuring justice for victims of sexual abuse.
