STANISLAW FILIPIAK AND HIS SHOCKING VOYEURISM IN NOTTINGHAM
A man named Stanislaw Filipiak, known for his disturbing and invasive behavior, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after a series of alarming incidents in Nottingham. The case involved multiple acts of stalking, voyeurism, and trespassing, which deeply traumatized the victims and prompted a comprehensive police investigation.
The incident that brought Filipiak to justice began when a woman in Nottingham discovered his hands reaching through her bathroom window while she was in the shower.
Her immediate reaction was to scream in terror, quickly closing the window and contacting the police.
This frightening encounter was just one part of a pattern of disturbing behavior that the authorities later uncovered.
Further investigations revealed that Filipiak, aged 39 and at the time working as a fast food delivery driver, had previously entered the same woman's home on at least two occasions while she was away on holiday.
During these unauthorized entries, he had rifled through her personal belongings, including her underwear drawer.
Additionally, he had taken photographs of her expired passport, accessed her Facebook account login details, and collected other sensitive password information stored on her iPad.
These actions demonstrated a clear pattern of invasive and criminal conduct.
Filipiak’s obsession with the victim extended beyond these break-ins.
Court proceedings disclosed that he had Googled her name more than 45 times, indicating a troubling fixation.
His activities in Nottingham’s Park area between January 3 and February 5 of that year were characterized by a series of disturbing behaviors, including loitering outside her residence, peering through windows, and attempting to open front doors.
The police investigation was thorough and led to Filipiak’s arrest.
During the search of his electronic devices, officers discovered videos and photographs he had secretly taken of young women in intimate situations within their bathrooms and bedrooms.
These images and recordings were captured through windows and gaps in blinds, often while the victims were in various stages of undress.
In total, seven victims of voyeurism were identified from the evidence.
Filipiak’s criminal record also included possession of an offensive weapon, specifically a thick rubber cosh, which was found in his backpack during his initial arrest on February 24, 2023.
His suspicious activities extended to internet searches related to 24-hour key cutting services in Nottingham, the reach of city center CCTV cameras, and other inquiries that suggested an interest in committing sexual offenses or viewing pornographic material.
Further searches and police inquiries uncovered additional concerning items at his residence, including rope and a blindfold, which the judge described as 'a very real concern' given the context of his offending.
Filipiak pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including one count of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offense, seven counts of voyeurism, two counts of stalking, and possession of an offensive weapon.
His guilty plea led to a significant sentence of nine years in prison, with an additional three years on extended licence.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, and he is subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order.
During sentencing, Judge Michael Auty KC expressed grave concerns about Filipiak’s possession of the cosh and his persistent offending over several months.
The judge highlighted the disturbing nature of his internet searches and the profound fear inflicted upon his victims.
He remarked, “Imagine the terror of the young woman in the shower, seeing your hands coming through her window.
Your behaviour represents a deep intrusion into these women’s personal lives.
The fear you have engendered in them is almost impossible to state.” The judge also commended the Nottinghamshire Police detectives for their diligent and skilled investigation, which was instrumental in securing justice.
Detective Inspector Chris Berryman praised the perseverance of the investigation team, noting that their work involved analyzing distinctive windows, car parks, and rubbish bins from Filipiak’s mobile phone footage, ultimately linking these to the victims’ addresses.
He emphasized that the investigation not only brought Filipiak to justice but also prevented further escalation of his offending.
The case was successfully prosecuted through a partnership between the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Nottinghamshire Police.
Sarah Sanderson from the CPS described Filipiak’s offending as extremely concerning, emphasizing that he preyed on women in their private moments, often using his job as a delivery driver to avoid suspicion.
She pointed out that the evidence indicated a potentially more harmful trajectory had he not been caught in time.
Detective Constable Ben Grayson of Nottinghamshire Police expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “These were appalling, invasive offences and I am pleased the judge saw fit to hand Filipiak a substantial sentence.
No-one should have their privacy invaded in this way, and I want to thank the victims for their cooperation in building this case.
I hope this outcome serves as a warning to others and underscores the seriousness of stalking and voyeurism, which can have lasting impacts on victims.
We encourage anyone affected to seek help from the police early, as we are here to support them.”
