CROYDON RAPIST SENTENCED TO 7 YEARS FOR ASSAULT ON GIRL

Sorosh Amini, aged 21, was convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl in an alleyway in Croydon, London. The incident occurred in broad daylight when Amini, despite the girl repeatedly telling him to leave her alone, kept following her and pestered her despite her protests. He then pursued her down North End Road into an alley and forcibly raped her. During the assault, he attempted to put a cannabis joint into her mouth and falsely claimed to be friends with someone who had stabbed another person, which frightened the girl into compliance. The child bravely reported the attack to police. Following his flight from his home in London the day after the assault, police traced him through phone data and CCTV footage to Liverpool. He was subsequently arrested at his location. Scouting CCTV footage and forensic evidence placed him at the scene of the crime, leading to his charge. Amini was tried at Croydon Crown Court, where he was sentenced to seven years in prison on June 27, 2025, after being convicted of rape and sexual assault. Additionally, he was issued a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. Det Insp Donnett Oseni pointed out that Amini's attack was predatory and calculated, emphasizing that the sentence aims to prevent future harm and protect others.
