SOBIRJON BOLTAEV SENTENCED IN LONDON FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT NEAR STRATFORD'S OLYMPIC PARK

Sobirjon Boltaev, a 26-year-old man residing on Lawton Road in Leyton, has been handed a three-year prison sentence following his conviction for a serious sexual assault that took place near Stratford’s iconic Olympic Park in London.

The incident occurred in the early hours of July 23 last year. The victim, who is now 27 years old, had just left a bar in Hackney Wick when she was approached by Boltaev. According to her account, he initially tried to start a conversation, but the situation quickly escalated when he forcibly kissed her without her consent. The assault then continued in a nearby wooded area, where Boltaev sexually assaulted her again. Despite her efforts to resist, the victim managed to fight him off and escape from the scene.

Following the attack, the police launched a comprehensive investigation. They reviewed CCTV footage from various locations, tracked Boltaev’s bicycle, and examined his recent bank transactions to establish his whereabouts and identity. The authorities also conducted a search of his residence, where they recovered clothing that matched the attire seen in CCTV images during the time of the assault. Witnesses confirmed that Boltaev was working as a delivery driver at the time of the incident, which helped corroborate the timeline of events.

Boltaev was arrested on September 1 of the same year and was formally charged the following day. His trial took place at Snaresbrook Crown Court, where he faced charges of two counts of sexual assault. On June 24, the court found him guilty of both charges. Subsequently, he was sentenced in December to three years in prison. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders' register for a period of ten years and was issued a sexual harm prevention order, which imposes restrictions aimed at preventing future offenses.

Detective Inspector Jon Ford, who led the investigation, expressed his hope that the sentence would serve as a measure of justice for the victim, who demonstrated remarkable bravery in fighting off her attacker and reporting the crime. He also extended gratitude to the victim and witnesses for their crucial evidence, emphasizing the police’s ongoing commitment to tackling violence against women and girls.
