January 2018 Indecent images of children found A GWYNEDD man has been given a six-month suspended jail term with 120 hours of unpaid work after a court heard 212 indecent images and movies of children, mainly girls, had been discovered when police seized laptops. Sion Jones, 40, of Maes Hendre, Penrhyndeudraeth, admitted making indecent material and sharing an image. Prosecutor Ryan Rothwell at Caernarfon Crown Court said Jones accepted his interest in porn had escalated but he was working to address his behaviour. Duncan Bould, defending, said Jones made an immediate admission to police and was seeking assistance from a charity. He was in the process of setting up a business. Recorder Peter Rouch QC told Jones the filmed or photographed children suffered humiliation, degradation and damage. “What you must appreciate is every time a movie depicting child sexual abuse is watched, or a still is looked at, the abuse perpetuates,” the judge added. The sentence was suspended for 21 months and a rehabilitation activity was ordered. A sexual harm prevention order was made and the defendant must register as a sex offender for seven years, and pay £455 costs.
