SIMON WALKER FROM RAINWORTH SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

In a case that has shocked the community of Rainworth and the wider Nottinghamshire area, Simon Walker, aged 38, has been sentenced to an indefinite prison term after being found guilty of heinous crimes involving child abuse and the production of disturbing child pornography. The court heard that Walker, a resident of Southwell Road West in Rainworth, engaged in a series of criminal activities that spanned over several years, culminating in a police raid that uncovered a trove of illegal material.

In January, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Walker’s residence. During the search, they discovered more than 1,300 images of child pornography stored on his computer and multiple CDs containing footage of four young boys, whose ages ranged from seven to twelve. The footage was described as deeply disturbing and included scenes that depicted the boys in various states of distress and danger.

One of the most alarming clips involved Walker with his hands around the throat of a 12-year-old boy, strangling him until the boy’s lips turned blue and he lost consciousness. Prosecutor Steven Coupland detailed that Walker later told police, “I wanted to see his eyes roll back but they didn’t… I thought he had gone, I was so frightened and ashamed.”

Further footage showed the same boy tied to a chair with masking tape, blindfolded and gagged, with Walker encouraging the boys to pretend they were dead or dying. The court was also shown images of extreme violence, including a graphic depiction of a 12-year-old with a knife plunged into his stomach, with intestines visibly protruding. It was revealed that Walker had been watching adult ‘snuff’ material for seven or eight years, downloading tools that allowed him to superimpose weapons and body parts onto images of the boys.

One particularly disturbing aspect was the manipulation of images, which included scenes of violence and mutilation. The 12-year-old boy involved in the footage had reportedly described Walker as his ‘best friend’ and expressed sadness that Walker was in trouble, indicating a disturbing level of psychological manipulation.

Walker’s background was also discussed during the trial. He recounted to police that he had come out of hospital as a “raving lunatic” after an incident when he was only two or three years old. He explained that he had undergone a hernia operation, during which a man entered his hospital room, professed love for him, and threatened to kill him. This traumatic early experience was cited by the court as a possible factor in his later behavior.

Prosecutor Steven Coupland emphasized that Walker had been obsessed with a sexual fantasy for the past 33 years, which contributed to his criminal conduct. Despite having no prior convictions, Walker pleaded guilty to ten counts of indecent assault on children under 13 and seventeen counts of making indecent images.

During sentencing, Judge Dudley Bennett described Walker as “a very dangerous paedophile,” emphasizing the severity of his actions. The judge stated, “If you had not been caught when you were, you may have killed someone,” underscoring the potential for even greater harm. Walker was sentenced to serve a minimum of five years before he could be considered for parole, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the threat he poses to society.
