SIMON REEVES MUSSELBURGH MUSIC TEACHER FACES JAIL OVER CHILD ABUSE ALLEGATIONS
A music teacher from Musselburgh, Simon Reeves, is facing imprisonment after being accused of inappropriate conduct towards young girls during lessons.
Reeves, who is from Leith, has been implicated in abusing children for the second time.
He was observed touching the legs of four female students aged nine and ten while instructing at a primary school in East Lothian.
During court proceedings at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, it was revealed that Reeves, 46 years old, also rubbed the girls' backs and thighs and played with their hair during lessons.
The four victims, all attending the same primary school between 2015 and 2017, initially believed Reeves' behaviour was "normal at the time" and thought he was simply being friendly by caressing them on their legs and backs.
However, after one girl learned that Reeves had been prosecuted in the previous year for a similar offence and was on the sex offenders register, she and the other victims decided to report him.
Reeves admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a young girl between December 15, 2014, and June 1, 2017, and was placed on the sex offenders register for two years following his court appearance last August.
